I liked The Assasination of Jesse James… but never as much as its defenders seemed to. I have a lot of similar problems with this one. Dominik is great at crafting scenes and especially at allowing actors to chew scenery in the best way possible, but those scenes don’t always work together so nicely and you end up with something never bad, but just hodge podge. I get the political aspirations of the film, but sometime it just doesn’t know when to be quite, when it has said enough, when to move on.
