Wow. It does so much with so little. You feel all of the world crushing down on you.
I’ve watched this movie so many times over such a large span of time that I don’t have much to say. The songs are great. I do think it drags a bit towards the end, but nothing that hurts it too much.
A nice little film that felt very relatable.
Finally getting to more Yang. This movie was great. It really makes you work to put everything together, but that adds to the looming tension throughout. Masterful camera and editing work, but I think the thing that might standout most here and in YiYi is the acting. He really gets great performances and casts people who project their soul to you.
I still can’t completely understand what makes his movies work so well. They seem so simple, but there is a magnetism that keeps me enchanted.
A film so full of heart, still one of my favorites.
When they all come out to see the train go by I teared up. Such child like camaraderie. They found their tribe.
