Who would have thought DMX would have the funniest scene of 2014? This starts off a bit slow with obvious set ups, but once that is out of the way I really liked it. I liked how rounded Rosario Dawson was. This is getting a lot of Woody Allen comparisons and I get it, but at least this time the main character decides to go with the more complicated and mature relationship instead of one based on dominance and docility. I was a little concerned about the treatment of the gay boyfriend, I think it saves it just enough by having Rock’s character question Dawson’s judgement, but it is still played for laughs a little too much. But on top of all of that it is just really funny. Not enough J.B. Smoove. Never enough J.B. Smoove.
