11.21.2016 Arrival

There were a lot of good things about this, but it seems intent to get rid of most of that in the last act.

Some of the way the film handles its end is just unimaginative and clumsy, but its biggest problem is that it seems to lack the conviction to see its premise and ideas through. It tries to open our minds to a conception of time that isn’t tied down to linear progression and yet can’t let go of these things itself, using it’s heavy ideas as a simple deus ex machina to close out the linear plot concerns that honestly lack all interest and drama once you accept what is being told.
