A portrait of contradictions that ultimately feels a little impenetrable, but that seems to do justice to the subject. I was worried once the film makers started showing up in the film more – “meta” docs are a huge pet peeve of mine and they usually seem like a compensation for uninteresting subjects, but I think they do a pretty good job of it here. It never devolves into the same trite conversations about truth, but instead seems important to understanding Peter’s situation. The look on his face after one of the film makers fights back with him in the car says so much. You see the anger and hurt and how that snowballs when you realize you are only making things worse.
